If I am being honest, sometimes I like to bake and sometimes I am just not in the mood! BUUTTT I know that I need to have some snacks ready for the week so trail mix makes for the perfect alternative!
I love making trail mix because you can really add whatever you like! Whether you love chocolate, nuts, etc, you can make it to whatever your preference is! I also find that making your own trail mix is a lot better option than buying the ones from the store because a lot of the pre-made ones are FULL of SUGAR!
Something to keep your eye out for when you are buying your ingredients for your trail mix- make sure that the dried fruit you are buying does not have any added sugar (or only from unsweetened apple juice). I see it all the time, people thinking they are making a healthy choice by eating dried fruit, but in reality, some dried fruit has as much sugar as a piece of candy has! Always be looking at those nutritional labels!!
DIY Trail Mix
- 1/2 cup of dry roasted mixed nuts
- 1/2 cup of sunflower seeds
- 2 tbsp of pumpkin seeds
- 1/4 cup of goji berries
- 2 tbsp of super berry dried fruits (by Made in Nature)
- 1/4 cup of the Good Bean roasted chickpeas (I like the crunch)
Mix all the ingredients together and enjoy! I usually enjoy 1/4 cup of trail mix as a snack 🙂
PS you can add or omit whatever ingredients based on your personal preference! Sometimes I like to add in a little bit of chocolate covered fruits, peanuts, M&Ms etc!
